Before starting this firm, I spent over a decade as a fire protection engineer at some of the most demanding organizations in the country — Amtrak, WMATA, AECOM, and Mott MacDonald — designing fire protection systems for subway stations, intercity rail infrastructure, high-rise towers, and major commercial facilities.
I started Malinowski Engineering Consulting LLC because I wanted to bring that level of experience directly to clients who deserve it — without the overhead, the layers of management, or the project handoffs that dilute quality. When you work with me, I am the engineer on your project, from the first drawing to the final inspection.
I am licensed as a Professional Engineer in New York, New Jersey, and Virginia, and I bring the same standard to every project — whether it's a single-family residential sprinkler system or a full-scale transit station life safety design.
Work With Me →Mechanical Engineering, Stevens Institute of Technology, 2015. Graduate-level focus on thermal-fluid systems and structural mechanics.
Mechanical Engineering, Stevens Institute of Technology, 2014. Foundation in applied physics, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Bentley Microstation, and STEPS Pedestrian Modelling — full 2D/3D BIM capability including clash detection and coordination.
Wet and dry sprinkler systems, standpipes, clean agent suppression, smoke control, stairwell pressurization, fire alarms, and egress design across transit, commercial, and residential occupancies.
Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build delivery. Experienced managing RFIs, submittals, coordination drawings, and AHJ plan review from concept through commissioning.
Direct working relationships with MTA, NJ Transit, PANYNJ, Amtrak, Metrolinx, and WMATA — the agencies that set the standard for transit fire protection in North America.
Led fire protection engineering across Amtrak's national infrastructure portfolio. Responsible for design, code compliance, and delivery oversight on complex transit fire safety systems — including stations, tunnels, and maintenance facilities serving intercity rail operations.
Designed and reviewed fire protection systems for Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority facilities across the DC Metro network. Projects included station upgrades, tunnel fire suppression, and smoke control systems operated under NFPA 130 and WMATA design standards.
Managed multidisciplinary engineering teams on large-scale commercial and transit projects. Led fire protection and plumbing design packages from concept through construction administration, coordinating with architects, structural engineers, and AHJs across multiple simultaneous contracts.
Delivered fire protection and mechanical engineering for major North American transit projects including the Ontario Line rapid transit expansion in Toronto and the Purple Line Light Rail in Maryland — both multi-billion-dollar programs with stringent FTA and NFPA 130 requirements.
Fire protection design for major NYC subway station upgrades — sprinkler systems, standpipes, and life safety coordination for active stations with continuous passenger operations.
Fire protection engineering for one of the busiest commuter rail terminals in the country. Designed systems to meet NFPA standards while preserving the integrity of the landmarked historic structure.
Fire protection engineering for a major new rapid transit expansion in Toronto, including tunnel fire suppression systems and smoke control design under Metrolinx and NFPA 130 standards.
Led fire protection design for the Purple Line's stations and tunnel segments — a multi-billion-dollar FTA-funded light rail project connecting Montgomery and Prince George's Counties.
Inspection and condition assessment of fire protection systems in two of the most critical vehicular tunnels in the United States, under NYSDOT and FHWA compliance requirements.
Fire protection engineering for the Harvey Canal vehicular tunnel — a critical Gulf Coast infrastructure project requiring custom suppression and life safety solutions for a confined underwater roadway.
